Hardik Pandya is known for his power hitting and he almost managed to take umpire Rod Tucker out with one such shot off the bowling of Malinda Pushpakumara during India’s first innings this morning. However, Tucker, on the other hand, showed some incredibly quick reflexes to get out of the way.

Hardik Pandya has had quite a start to his Test career in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka. After scoring a half century on his debut Test in Galle, the 23-year-old brought his good form into the ongoing second Test in Colombo as well.

In the 131st over of the Indian first innings, Pandya was on strike and facing Malinda Pushpakumara who bowled a tossed-up delivery to the all-rounder. However, Pandya responded by coming down the track and absolutely hammered the ball straight back past the Lankan slow left-armer. In fact, such was the ferocity of Pandya’s strike that not only did it go past the bowler in the blink of an eye, it almost took out the umpire Rod Tucker as well.

Tucker, on the other hand, showed some incredible reflexes to get out of the way of the shot, even as the ball was curling in towards him and even managed to scrape a part of Tucker’s thigh on its way to the boundary. This was indicated by Tucker after he managed to escape the incident unhurt.
