Brian Lara praises Virat Kohli’s aggressive captaincy
Brian Lara has praised Virat Kohli’s leadership qualities and has called him as one of the best batsmen in contemporary cricket. Lara, who has had to face comparisons with Sachin Tendulkar in his entire career, has also praised Tendulkar for passing on a rich legacy to the youngsters.
Virat Kohli has been in imperious form for the last couple of years, which has drawn comparisons with legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. In addition to that, his aggressive captaincy has earned him plaudits from all quarters.
As the latest entrant, Caribbean batting legend Brian Lara praised the Indian skipper's talent.
Lara, who is in Hyderabad now to play Golf at the Hyderabad Golf Association Course, said, "Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen in contemporary cricket and has his own style of batting. I am not the kind to rate players or compare him with anyone. Even in captaincy, he has his own style, which is proving to be very effective," reported The Times of India.
Lara, who scored 11,953 runs in his 131-Test career, was effluent in the praise of Sachin Tendulkar and said that he has left a rich legacy for the highly talented youngsters.
"One should remember the impetus provided by the great Sachin (Tendulkar) while at his peak. He passed on a rich legacy to highly talented youngsters and they are ready to take on the world now," he concluded.
