Watch : MS Dhoni trolls Jasprit Bumrah after Morgan run out
MS Dhoni trolled pacer Jasprit Bumrah with a smile on his face after the latter chose to run out Eoin Morgan with a throw despite having been just a yard away from the stumps at the non-striker end. Wicketkeeper Dhoni appeared to be telling the bowler to run to the stumps and dislodge the bails.
India rode on centuries by Yuvraj Singh and Dhoni to post 381 that set up their 15-run victory in the second ODI in Cuttack on Thursday to seal the three-match series 2-0 with a game to spare.
England skipper Morgan hit a belligerent ton and appeared to be taking his side over the finish line with 28 required off 10 balls for victory when the run out occurred. Bumrah stopped a hit from Liam Plunkett off his own bowling, and Morgan took off for a single.
Instead of running to the stumps and dislodge the bails, Bumrah chose to throw down the stumps, a potentially risky option that, however, turned out successful. Dhoni couldn’t control his smile over Bumrah’s choice, and appeared to be telling the Gujarat pacer that he should have run to the stumps and dislodged the bails. Bumrah also smiled.
