David Warner tops ICC ODI rankings list; Kohli third

David Warner has leapfrogged Royal Challengers Bangalore duo Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to claim the top spot in the ICC rankings for ODIs. Kohli has dropped to third on the list just 9 rating points behind AB de Villiers, who made a return to international cricket against Sri Lanka yesterday.

After scoring 367 runs, at an average of 73.4, in the recently concluded series against Pakistan, Warner has managed to reach his career-best rating of 880 to go to the top of the rankings. De Villiers (861) and Kohli (852) are the closest to the Australian opener in second and third place respectively. 

Rohit Sharma, who was injured in the New Zealand series, has dropped three places and landed on the 12th spot while his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan is in joint-14th spot with Jos Buttler. Kohli's predecessor Mahendra Singh Dhoni gained a place in the rankings to be sandwiched between the two Indian openers in 13th spot.

Kedar Jadhav was one of the biggest gainers thanks to his 232 runs against England. The all-rounder rose 57 spots to land at no. 47.

No Indian bowler was able to break into the top-10 of the charts. Axar Patel is the highest ranked Indian bowler, on the list, in 12th spot with Amit Mishra joint 14th with South African Morne Morkel.

The list is topped by Trent Boult(718) and Mitchell Starc (713) is just behind him.

As far as the team rankings were concerned, the Indian team (112) remained in third place behind Australia (120) and South Africa (116).
