WATCH | Harmanpreet's anger leaves Deepti in tears in semi-final against Australia
Harmanpreet Kaur (171*) helped India defeat Australia by 36 runs and reach the ICC Women's WC final yesterday. Runs were, however, not the only stuff that the batswoman blasted on the day - her partner Deepti was at the receiving end of her ire when she failed to read her call for a run at 99.
In a delayed match, India registered a fantastic win over Australia in the second semi-final. 28-year-old Kaur’s unbeaten 171 runs helped India to put up a huge total of 281 in 42 overs. She hit 20 fours and seven sixes in her knock of 117 balls.
However, the innings also witnessed the force of her anger and team-mate Sharma was at the receiving end of it.
In the 35th over, Kaur was involved in a huge mix-up with Deepti, who was at the non-striker's end. A run-out seemed imminent when Kaur was coming back for a second run to complete her century. Kaur angrily gesticulated at her partner as she ran ahead and barely made the crease with a lunge. On reaching the century, Kaur, in fact, threw her helmet down more in anger than in celebration leaving her partner on the verge of tears. Later though, the Punjab player patched up with Deepti.
The final match of the ICC Women’s World Cup will be played on Sunday between India and host England at the Lord’s.
