After missing the final Test of Australia series, some reports have suggested, Virat Kohli might now miss Royal Challengers Bangalore's opening matches as well. Kohli, who captains RCB in the IPL, was exceptional in their last season's league campaign leading them all the way to the final.

Kohli suffered an injury to his shoulder during the third Test in Ranchi, after he dived to stop a boundary. Even though the Indian captain came out to bat, he never looked comfortable and eventually missed the final Test in Dharamsala. RCB is yet to comment on Kohli’s availability.

Kohli and co. will start the 10th edition of the IPL when they take on defending Champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in a replay of last season's final on April 5. Speaking after the Dharmasala Test, Kohli told ESPNCricinfo, "It's still a few weeks to go before I can be 100% on the field, but these things happen in your career. Got to take it in my stride and move forward."

Kohli was integral in RCB’s march to the finals last year, narrowly missing out on becoming the first batsman to score 1000 runs in an IPL season, finishing with a record 973 runs under his belt. The 27-year-old has missed only one IPL game since its inception in 2008
