Sachin Tendulkar has heaped praise on Virat Kohli’s performance in Edgbaston, stating that the skipper should maintain his focus and continue his fantastic performances in the coming games as well. Tendulkar asked Kohli to be happy with his achievements but to never get satisfied by them.

Virat Kohli's performance at Edgbaston has made him the top batsman in the ICC Test rankings since Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar did, back in June 2011. Tendulkar was the first Indian player to have reached that elevation. Now with Kohli tallying a total of 200 runs in the first Test itself, 149 in the first innings and 51 in the second, has definitely reached that level and would be India's biggest hope to salvage something from the series.

Tendulkar was one of many, who was very impressed with Indian skipper's batting at Edgbaston and has appreciated his amazing form stating that he must extend it in the upcoming match at the Lord's.

“I would say, just continue, he's doing a fantastic job so just continue. Don't worry about what's happening around you, keep your focus on what you want to achieve, and let your heart guide the way. Along the way, there will be plenty of things said and done, but eventually, if you are passionate about what you want in life, then the results will invariably follow", Sachin told ESPNCricinfo.

Despite India losing the Test by 31 runs, Tendulkar has advised Virat to remain positive of his personal achievement. However, he further mentioned that a player should never be content with his achievements as it would reduce his chances of improvement. According to him, one should be happy with his achievement but never satisfied.

“I can tell you from my own experience, however many runs you score they are never enough. You want more runs, and that is the case with Virat. However many runs he scores, it will never be enough for him. The downfall starts when you are satisfied. It's nice to be happy, but never be satisfied when you are a batsman. Bowlers can only get ten wickets, but batters can go on and go, so don't be satisfied, just be happy", he said.
