VIDEO | Adil Rashid’s confused attempt to search for ball leaves England team in splits

Fielding inside the circle needs very good hand-eye coordination, but as it is proven now, Adil Rashid certainly lacks the same. After his failure to understand where the ball went in the air, Rashid became a butt of the joke as Joe Root, and Chris Woakes had a wary smile on their faces.

Adil Rashid became the headlines after his selection in the Test team owing to his great limited-overs performance and after a no-show at Edgbaston, he had to release the monkey off the back at Lord’s, but James Anderson single-handedly stole the show. However, Rashid had his moment in the lens while fielding at short mid-on and that certainly was the moment of the Test so far.

Chris Woakes managed to extract a leading edge off Ravichandran Ashwin’s bat in the 28th over of the Indian innings and the ball was in the air for quite some time before landing in front of mid-on. But, Rashid completely lost sight of the ball as he kept on looking around to see where it might have fallen. By the time the fielder could gather it, the batsmen managed to get two runs, but the silly nature of the fielding was enough to bring a smile or two to the face of Woakes and Root.

Rashid, however, was not amused by that, but the embarrassing face was clearly visible when he tried to sport a smile but couldn't. Root though didn't mind to have fun at his Yorkshire teammate's expense.
