Glenn Maxwell has clarified that he avoiding hand-shake with Sarfraz Ahmed after the game was down to a ‘genuine oversight’ and he would neet the Pakistan skipper for the same. Tim Paine & Co. were defeated by Pakistan by six wickets in the final of the T20I tri-series involving Zimbabwe as well.

The Australian cricket team are looking to build from scratch and recover from the entire ‘Sandpapergate’ incident that occurred earlier this year in South Africa. Their recent humiliation at the hands of their English opponents who ran riot as they won all the matches in the five-match ODI series just showed the impact that incident had on the Aussies.

However, Tim Paine & Co. displayed some concrete performances in the recently concluded T20I tri-series, which involved Pakistan and Zimbabwe as well. But Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell courted in a controversy after the loss against Pakistan in the finals as he appeared to overlook Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed while he shook hands with the rest.

But the DD player took to Twitter to clarify the rumours surrounding that incident as he said that the whole scenario was the result of a genuine oversight.

"Congrats to Pakistan on their win yesterday, Fakhar Zaman and Shoaib Malik were unstoppable! Sad note to end our tour of Zimbabwe, but still plenty of positives to take out of it," Maxwell clarified on Twitter. "In regards to the incident shown post-match, it appears unsportsmanlike, and certainly not the way I play the game.

"It was a genuine oversight on my behalf and I'm currently looking for Sarfraz in the hotel to shake his hand and congratulate him and his team for their series win #wellplayed," Maxwell Tweeted.

Australian head coach - Justin Langer and skipper Paine have gone lengths to create a camaraderie with the opposition in recent times as the latter introduced the tradition to shake hands soon after the national anthems as a goodwill gesture.
