India vs England | Playing against Kuldeep Yadav is a challenge, says Eoin Morgan

England skipper Eoin Morgan admits that his players were unable to tackle the bowling prowess of the dangerous Kuldeep Yadav who notched up six wickets against the home team. England were defeated by eight wickets at Trent Bridge as Virat Kohli & Co. took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

Trent Bridge had been a fortress for the English cricket team, who posted the highest-ever ODI total of 480 against Tim Paine’s Australia last month at the same venue. The Nottingham stadium that has terrified bowlers all over the world over since the 2015 ODI World Cup, saw something spectacular getting unfurled on Thursday in the form of Indian wrist spinner - Kuldeep Yadav.

The 23-year old lad from Uttar Pradesh was at his very best as he racked up six wickets from 10 overs while he gave away just 25 runs, in what skipper Virat Kohli described as the best bowling spell he ever saw. The opposition captain, Eoin Morgan echoed Kohli’s view as well as he admitted that the home team was definitely taken aback by Yadav’s magic with the ball.

"Certainly not our best day we've had here, full credit to India they completely outplayed us. Playing against spin is a challenge we will hopefully continue to improve on. We might need to sit in or a better way to play him...think Lord's will be different. He extracted more turn than any other spinner. Our playing against spin will have to improve,” Morgan said in a post-match interview.

The English leader further revealed that his side was desperate to identify their mistakes and flaws ahead of next year’s 2019 ODI showpiece that will be held across England and Wales itself.

“To be honest, between now and the World Cup we need to expose our areas of weakness and this is one of them," Morgan added.

The hosts will look to bounce back in the second ODI, which is scheduled to be played at the birthplace of cricket Lord's in London. Hopefully, for the home team, they can tackle the prowess of Kuldeep Yadav by that time.
