MS ‘Captain Cool’ Dhoni is renowned for his composure but as is often seen in any sport, sometimes you just end up losing your cool over certain things. Dhoni seemed annoyed after umpire Marias Erasmus failed to award a wide after a short Jofra Archer delivery soared over his head.

Chennai Super Kings have been in good touch so far in the 2018 season of the IPL as they find themselves second in the IPL table behind league leaders Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, have struggled to get going on their return to the IPL as they face a tough task of making it to the playoffs this year. In today’s must-win game for the home team, CSK chose to bat first after Dhoni won the toss and enjoyed a good start by Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu. Suresh Raina also notched up a half-century as Dhoni also looked to get going.

However, the Ajinkya Rahane-led Rajasthan Royals put up a decent bowling effort with Ben Stokes, Jaydev Unadkat, Ish Sodhi and Jofra Archer all putting up a good show with the ball. However, Archer’s final over did have a touch of controversy surrounding it.

Archer was chosen by Rahane to bowl the penultimate over of the innings with Dhoni and Sam Billings on the crease. On the fourth ball of the eighteenth over, Archer bowled a rather short delivery to the CSK skipper which soared above his head. In almost an immediate reaction, Dhoni looked towards umpire Marias Erasmus, who was standing at on the leg side, whom the former expected to award a wide for the short-pitched delivery.

But to Dhoni’s surprise, Erasmus let that delivery go as a first short-pitched delivery for the over as Archer escaped giving away extra runs which only left the former Indian captain with a confused expression on his face. Replays suggested that Dhoni’s disapproval over the decision was actually justified as the ball was well over his head and away from his reach.
