IPL 2019 | Ajinkya Rahane fined for slow over-rate in CSK game
Ajinkya Rahane has been handed a fine of Rs. 12 lakh for maintaining slow over-rate during Rajasthan Royals’ game against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on Sunday. Earlier in the season, Rohit Sharma was also handed a fine of the same amount for slow over-rate against Kings XI Punjab.
Rajasthan Royals are having a terrible time in the ongoing 12th edition of the IPL as they haven’t won a single game so far after their first three fixtures. Despite the match against CSK going down to the wire yesterday, the Royals finished on the losing side by falling short of the target by eight runs. However, the result of the match is not the only problem for the team as their skipper has now been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the game in Chennai. Rahane was found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct of minimum over-rate and has been fined 12 lakh rupees.
"Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 match against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on 31st March 2019," read the IPL media release.
"As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh."
Earlier in the tournament, Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit was also handed a fine of 12 lakh rupees for breaching the same Code of Conduct during their game against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on Saturday.
