VIDEO | Jonny Bairstow shows incredible balance to run Ishan Kishan out despite knocking over stumps twice

After SRH spinners strangled Mumbai with their perfect line and length, the MI middle-order found it tough to get going. This was further evident from the fact that Ishan Kishan, a better player of spin bowling, couldn’t do much and was eventually sent back to the pavilion by a brilliant piece of return fielding and some great glovework by Vijay Shankar and Bairstow respectively.

On the penultimate ball of the 13th over, Rashid Khan tried to give the ball some flight and lured by that, Ishan Kishan put it towards cover and set off for a single. His partner at the other end, Kieron Pollard didn't move at all and seeing that Kishan had to make an immediate comeback to the crease.

It became difficult for him as Vijay Shankar, one of the most agile fielders going around, threw the ball back to Bairstow. Kishan gave his all and put in a full stretch dive to reach the crease, but Bairstow was alert enough to collect the offering. However, funnily enough, Bairstow had already disturbed the stumps with his pad, not once but twice, before the throw reached him. Nonetheless, he ensured that one of the stumps was uprooted after that with the ball in his hand.

The entire team appealed for the dismissal, but David Warner, who was standing at slip, appeared to be signalling that it was not out. The Englishman, however, was confident and the replays backed his confidence as Kishan had to walk back to the pavilion.
