Kings XI Punjab bowling coach Ryan Harris has heaped praised on his side’s opening pair of Chris Gayle and KL Rahul by saying that the duo is a nightmare for the opposition. Gayle and Rahul have managed to get emphatic starts for their side and have wreaked havoc in the powerplay overs.

Gayle and Rahul are two different kinds of batsmen at the top and very impactful in their own unique ways. While Gayle banks on brute force, Rahul backs his stroke-play to milk runs. Rahul has scored a scintillating ton this season while Gayle missed it by a whisker after remaining unbeaten on 99 against RCB. Former Australian cricketer Ryan Harris has spoken highly about Kings XI Punjab’s opening pair of Chris Gayle and KL Rahul.

In an exclusive interview with the Times of India, Harris spoke about Gayle and Rahul’s impact at the top. “They are both are talented and experienced players. Wherever Chris goes, he scores runs. I saw his performance against England in England, it was outstanding. He has scored a lot of runs for West Indies.

"It is all about his confidence which is very high. He gave us a good start. Hope he continues to do so. KL is again another talented and experienced hand for us. When they are at the crease, it’s a nightmare for the opposition. At No. 3, we have Mayanka Agarwal who knows how to handle (different) situations,” Harris said, reported TOI.

On KXIP chances of winning their maiden title while banking heavily of Rahul and Gayle’s form, Harris said, “I hope so. We are not putting too much pressure on them (KL and Gayle). They are wonderful guys. They can trouble any bowling attack. The form they are in is magnificent. Hope they continue to score lots of runs. We have a bright chance of winning the title.”

KXIP are currently placed fourth on the points table and play their next encounter against Delhi Capitals tonight.
