Yuzvendra Chahal is confident of giving his best in the upcoming edition of ICC ODI World Cup if he sticks to his strategy and plays according to the needs of skipper Virat Kohli. Chahal added that the resurgence in the Royal Challengers Bangalore dugout will give him confidence for the World Cup.

The Indian team will be hell-bent to do their best in this year’s ODI World Cup which is scheduled to be held in England & Wales on May 30. Along with Kuldeep Yadav, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Yuzvendra Chahal will form the core of the Indian spin attack in England. Chahal has a tally of 72 wickets in 41 ODIs at an economy of 4.89.

The RCB is player is geared up for tough competition against Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja for a spot in the playing XI at the World Cup. In a recent interview, Chahal is adamant that he will stick to the team strategy and perform the way that captain Virat Kohli asks him to.

"My biggest strength is I never look at the batsman’s name when bowling. I play to my strategy and what the captain wants. That is the mentality I have developed over the years, and it has taken me this far.

"When a top batsman is coming after me, I have more chance of getting his wicket as he is just looking for fours and sixes. If I am vulnerable, he is vulnerable too. I can use my variations well and take my chances against him. That’s how I look at batsmen attacking me," Chahal said in the interview with HT.

Chahal added that the current resurgence of the RCB team in the ongoing edition of the IPL will boost his morale ahead of the next month’s global showdown in England. The 28-year-old added that he will use his variations in the shorter format during the World Cup as well.

"The margin of error is less in T20s. Here you have only four overs and in ODIs you 10 to show your skills. In ODIs, even if you are hit in one or two overs, you have a chance to make a comeback. In T20s you may be hit more. You have to be prepared for it.

"After a string of losses (the first 6 games), we were missing the momentum in the first half. In the last four-five games, we have been playing really well. We have won three straight games. Our momentum is back. We are more confident. It’s good I’m playing in IPL ahead of the World Cup. It is a learning experience, and is helping me use my variations ahead of the big test in England," Chahal added.
