Navdeep Saini has been found guilty of violating the ICC Code of Conduct in the first T20I against West Indies and accepted the charges levelled against him without any hearing. He had made an offensive gesture after taking Nicholas Pooran’s wicket which goes against the ICC’s Code.

Indian pacer Navdeep Saini has been given an official warning by the match officials after he was found culpable of going against Article 2.5 of the ICC’s Code of Conduct. The said Article in Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel’s deals with actions and gestures that might provoke an aggressive reaction by the batsmen after they have been dismissed.

In the first T20I of the three-match series on Saturday between India and the West Indies, Saini took the wicket of Nicholas Pooran in the fourth over and made a gesture such that was found to be against the code. On-field umpires Nigel Duguid and Gregory Braithwaite along with third umpire Leslie Reifer and fourth official Patrick Gus filed the charges against the 26-year-old.

The player accepted the mistake and agreed to the sanctions proposed by the match referee Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees, eliminating the need to have a formal hearing. Since it was a Level One offense, the player was let go with a warning and was handed a single demerit point.
