India vs Australia | There was confusion between pacers and Tim Paine, reveals David Saker

The Australian cricket team face an uphill task ahead of them as the Indians put up a humongous total of 622/7 before declaring towards the end of day two of the series finale at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday. Cheteshwar Pujara (193) and Rishabh Pant (159*) both scored centuries as the Indian batsman utterly dominated in the first innings of the fourth and final match of the Test series between the two nations.

Australian bowling coach, David Saker, revealed that there was some confusion between Aussie captain Tim Paine and the pace bowling trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood on Day 1.

"I think the bowlers wanted one thing, Tim wanted one thing. That's not been the case as the general rule but when you were watching from the sideline you could see there was some confusion," Saker told 'ABC Grandstand'.

The bowling coach further added that a ‘heated’ discussion took place on the same after the end of days play on Thursday to sort out the issue.

"Last night we talked quite heavily about the day, more because we thought it was a really disappointing day and we just wanted to get our point across.

"Some of it was quite aggressive and that's not like me usually. I was quite animated, and I know I was not the only one. JL (Langer) wasn't happy. The bowlers know that. We had spells that were quite good but that's not going to cut it," Saker added.

Meanwhile, veteran spinner Nathan Lyon also expressed his disappointment with the tactics employed by the home team in the first innings against Virat Kohli & Co.

"I wasn't too happy with that to be honest. We missed out on using the moisture in the wicket. I thought we could have stuck there (full) longer, but the captain and the bowlers came up with a decent plan and unfortunately it didn't work," Lyon said.
