VIDEO | Virat Kohli turns throwdown specialist in the nets so as to prepare Rishabh Pant

Virat Kohli has always been a livewire on the field and is always up for a task or two with his teammates. As he was dismissed for 23 on the first day of the Sydney Test, he immediately changed his priority and started doing throwdown to help Rishabh Pant and throwdown specialist Raghu out.

Since the Indian skipper had that majestic tour Down Under in 2014, in which he amassed as many as 692 runs in four Tests, his performance against Australia is not something that he can be very proud of, even measuring on Murali Vijay standards. He averages below 30 against the Aussies after that tour and yesterday saw another tame dismissal with a paltry score. However, if you think that would come onto haunt him mentally, of course, you are on the wrong side of the things.

The Indian skipper didn’t  fuss about his batting form - which is never bad anyway in a broader picture - and kept on egging his team from the sidelines. He had a genuine smile on his face from the dressing room each time Pujara achieved some milestone and in the nets, well, he acted as support staff to help his other teammates out.

Pant was next on the line to bat on the second day as India were to continue with Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari, who looked very set in the crease. With the visitors having only one throwdown specialist in the form of Raghavendra, Kohli decided to join the backroom staff to do some throwdown as well. The Indian skipper was in charge of preparing Rishabh Pant, and Raghavendra, or Raghu as he is known as, turned up for other players. That eased the work of both.
