Mohammad Azharuddin has claimed that India possess an aggressive wicket-keeper cum batsman like Adam Gilchrist in the form of young Rishabh Pant, who has impressed in the ongoing Australia tour. Pant registered a magnificent unbeaten 159 in the first innings of the fourth Test at the SCG.

The Indian cricket team are on the brink of making history by winning their first-ever series on Australian soil as they lead the ongoing four-match Test series by a narrow margin of 2-1. The visitors remain favorites to win the last Test as well after they have taken a mammoth lead of 622/7 in the first innings.

Ravi Shastri’s boys totally dominated the Australian bowlers as Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant registered well-deserved centuries. Pant, who remained unbeaten at 159 at the end of day two at the SCG, was particularly impressive with his bat as he displayed some aggression batting against the Aussies. And former India captain, Mohammad Azharuddin, was left impressed by the youngster's exploits as he compared the Delhi boy to Australian great - Adam Gilchrist.

"Rishabh Pant batted really well but needs to improve his wicketkeeping. I was surprised that he hit only one six in his unbeaten knock. But he played very well and I feel India have found a batsman similar to Adam Gilchrist. India still have time to include him in the T20 and ODI sides. He is an attacking batsman and he should be part of the World Cup squad," Azharuddin said while talking to Aaj Tak.

Meanwhile, former India batsman turned commentator Aakash Chopra has also lavished praise on the Delhi Capitals player, who has been a revelation in Australia. Pant has played a total of eight Test matches, scoring 537 runs at an average of 38.35.

"I think it's changing him every single day. He is learning something every single day. We keep forgetting that he is just 21 years old. He is achieveing something that no Indian keeper has been able to achieve in Australia -- score a century in England and Australia. You know we all hoped, we will find somebody similiar to Adam Gilchrist. He is taking these giant strides. He was very restrained, even without going aerial and taking a lot of risks, he was able to score at run-a-ball.

"He is giving us reminders that there is a lot more to him. Indian cricket needs to invest. You have got to start looking beyond one format for him. It will be a travesty if he's not there. Every single knock, he is growing, he is showcasing his maturity. You need match-winners, game-changers. At least, having in the mix. MS is going to be there. Having Rishabh Pant is mandatory, looking towards the World Cup," Chopra said.
