Hardik Pandya was at the centre of many controversies of late and the last thing that he could afford do on his return was a bad performance on the field. And today, when Shikhar Dhawan’s wayward throw conceded an extra run, the all-rounder aggressively asked Dhawan to pull up his socks.

The return of Pandya from suspension was one of the most awaited things for Indian cricket fans in the series and when that happened, all eyes were fixed on him. He seemed to be under pressure and had traded the swagger for more substance on the field. The first over was as accurate as it ever was, and for a change, his seam position was much straighter, causing a lot of problems for Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson.

In the process of being accurate, the Baroda all-rounder bowled a short ball in the 14th over which rose on Taylor to catch him off guard. Initially, the batsman wasn’t ready for such a delivery, but thankfully, he managed to pull it over mid-wicket. Due to the late attempt for the shot, he mistimed it big-time as the ball landed only in short mid-wicket where Shikhar Dhawan was stationed.

Rohit Sharma was waiting to receive the throw some meters away from the stumps on the on-side, but after collecting the ball, Dhawan made a wild throw which went towards square leg. Rohit still attempted to collect the ball, but he failed and by the time, Kedar Jadhav collected the ball, it had already conceded one extra run as an overthrow by the home team.

That angered Pandya, who in frustration uttered “C’mon Yaar”, especially because he guided Dhawan to make the throw exactly to Rohit when the southpaw was coming near the ball.
