MS Dhoni is back in training in the nets as reports indicate that the World Cup winning captain will once again be in contention for the fourth ODI against New Zealand in the ongoing tour. Dhoni missed out on third ODI win at the Bay Oval last week as he was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Former India captain, MS Dhoni, has hit top form since the start of the 2019 calendar having starred in the earlier 2-1 ODI series win against Australia earlier this month. The Indian wicket-keeper scored a total of 193-runs in three games and was also adjudged as man of the series for his performances down under.

The CSK skipper also started in the first two One-dayers on the tour of New Zealand but missed out on place in the third ODI due to a hamstring injury. Interestingly, that was the only the third time the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman has missed out with an injury.

The previous occasion that Dhoni was out of the playing XI was way back in 2013 when he missed three ODIs due to a hamstring injury in a tri-series in the West Indies. The first time that the 37-year old batsman missed out on playing an ODI for India was 12 years ago when he was out of two ODIs against Ireland and South Africa in Belfast in 2007 due to viral fever.

However, reports have emerged that the Indian veteran is back in contention to be included in the fourth ODI against Kane Williamson & Co. in the coming days. Dhoni was replaced by Dinesh Karthik in the ODI at the Bay Oval.

Having already won the ongoing five-match series, it will interesting to see as to what will Indian coach Ravi Shastri decides about Dhoni’s participation in the last two games.
