ICC World Cup 2019 | Rashid Khan is fine despite nasty blow on head, says Gulbadin Naib

In the encounter between Afghanistan and New Zealand at the Country Ground in Taunton, Rashid Khan came into bat in the 33rd over, when his side was reeling at 133 for seven. 

However, he did not last for long as he was hit by a bouncer off Lockie Ferguson in the very next over. The express pacer bowled at 138 kmph and Khan ducked in but the ball hit on his grille, only to be carried on to the stumps. The New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson also checked on him.

The leg-spinner was checked by the team’s medical staff before he reached the boundary and did not come back to take field or bowl in the second innings after failing the initial concussion tests.

Much to the relief of fans, the Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib revealed that Rashid is now fine. 

“He’s feeling now better. The doctor said don’t go to the field but now he’s feeling well. So he needed rest. So obviously we have a couple of days. He’s fine now,” he told, reported AFP.

“I asked the physio if he needed rest, some headache. We have a rest of one week for the other game. So now he’s feeling well. So he should go to hospital and check for some tests. He’s well. Afghani people is strong. So it’s just a small thing,” added the 28-year-old.
