In the last 25 years, South Africa have been considered as the benchmark of fielding until New Zealand took over the mantle in the last few years. That was evident from Faf du Plessis’ reaction to Chris Morris’ run out throw as the ball goes over Kagiso Rabada’s head thanks to Morris’ weird angle.

After Rabada got the better of Hazratullah Zazai, the onus was on the duo of Noor Ali Zardan and Rahmat Shah and it needed some kind of heavy lifting to ensure that the team didn’t lose the focus after rain. While they showed the temperament to grind in there, it helped their cause further as South Africa lacked intensity on the field. The fourth ball of the 11th over would tell you how.

Rahmat Shah played an Andile Phehlukwayo delivery towards mid-on and set off for a single even though the man standing at the position - Chris Morris - having the reputation of being a brilliant fielder. As Shah set off, Morris swooped down and fired the ball at the bowler's end. Had it been a direct hit, Zadran was a goner but his wayward throw hit the spot and bounced over the stumps.

Rabada was backing up for the ball but it went over his head. Thankfully, it didn’t go for a boundary but du Plessis was fully embarrassed by watching the throw. His smile showed his embarrassment.
