Afghanistan have worked hard at the World Cup but lady luck has definitely not been on their side in England. This time it was Rashid Khan who gave away a run after his throw to keeper Ikram Ali Khan spun at the very last moment which allowed Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to sneak in for a quick single.

India and Afghanistan have enjoyed a good camaraderie on the ground in the last few years or so and the last time both the teams met each other at the Asia Cup where the match ended as a draw. The two teams faced off at the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019 at Southampton on Saturday as Virat Kohli & Co. aim to protect their unbeaten streak in England.

However, there was an interesting incident that occurred during the first innings of the match. Indian skipper Virat Kohli and opener KL Rahul were at the crease in the 12th over as Gulbadin Naib brought himself into the attack.

The Afghanistan captain bowled a rather short delivery which Kohli smacked towards the sweeper cover. Rashid Khan swooped in to collect the ball and threw it to the wicket-keeper Ikram Ali Khan. But the Afghanistan spinner’s throw hit the ground and spun away at the very last moment as the keeper was left totally dumbfounded at the incident. To the Indian team’s advantage, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul sneaked in a quick run due to the overthrow which eased some pressure on the batting side.

DRS’ value is humongous and shouldn’t be wasted as a team gets one per innings. The primary reason behind the existence if DRS is to eradicate blunders but Rashid Khan forced Gulbadin Naib to take a review for an LBW decision when the ball had taken an inside edge of the bat.
