VIDEO | Shai Hopes misses “easiest stumping of all-time” despite MS Dhoni out of the crease by a mile

There is so much to learn from MS Dhoni but Shai Hope seems to have learnt a little from the man who has made flash stumping fashionable in the truest sense. Despite Fabian Allen breaching Dhoni’s defence and creating an easy chance, Hope missed it altogether despite Dhoni not being in the frame.

After the middle order of Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav failed to get going, the onus was on MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli to resurrect the ship. Especially Dhoni, who had to cope with a lot of criticism for his innings against Afghanistan, had a lot to prove but Allen, who was brought into the team for Ashley Nurse, made life difficult for the former Indian skipper.

On the first delivery of the 34th over, Dhoni came down the ground to tackle Allen but the ball simply turned enough to beat his outside edge. Such has been the forward defence that Dhoni had already covered one-fourth of the pitch and Hope had a chance served to him on a platter to get the better of his Indian counterpart.

However, Hope failed to collect the ball properly and that gave Dhoni sufficient downtime to return back to the crease. Considering the ball was lying near Hope’s boot, the Windies keeper tried again but instead of keeping the ball safe in his gloves, he attempted the stumping in his hand which didn’t have the ball. The ball left his hand after that and taking the benefit of that, Dhoni and Virat Kohli ran a couple, like they were trolling the Caribbean players for their lack of attentiveness.
