The speculation that Sachin Tendulkar is keen to join the Mumbai Cricket Association administration gained momentum after the former opener met MCA chief Sharad Pawar at his residence. Last month, MCA's Cricket Improvement Committee and the senior selection committee resigned from their position.

Mumbai Cricket Association is currently in shambles and are now being led by an ad-hoc committee, with elections supposed to be held once the Lodha reforms are implemented. The team’s under-performance has even forced the entire senior selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, to resign amidst pressure from the members. Apart from Agarkar, the four-member panel also had the likes of former India left-arm spinner Nilesh Kulkarni, Sunil More and Ravi Thakkar.

Once the selection committee resigned, MCA's Cricket Improvement Committee members Amol Muzumdar and Sahil Kukreja, and Under -16 chief selectors Atul Ranade too quit their posts in protest. This seems to have affected Sachin Tendulkar, who has closely associated himself with the association, and if the reports hold any waters, he may well contest for the role of president, a position that Pawar held for far too long.

If Sachin enters cricket administration, he will be the fourth renowned cricketer from his generation to be involved in cricket management. While Sourav Ganguly is working as the current Cricket Association of Bengal president, earlier, Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath had occupied the role of president and secretary respectively in the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
