Is the game actually over until MS Dhoni brings up his trademark stumping and sends a batsman or two back to the hut? Well, Chennai Super Kings deserved their share of fun as the CSK skipper sent Chris Morris and Shreyas Iyer packing just in fraction of second to put CSK ahead of the game.
Chepauk wicket has been designed in a way to help CSK spinners have the advantage, and with MS Dhoni behind the stumping, a special is always on the cards for the three-time champions’ fans. And then he started.
On the fourth ball of the 12th over, with Chris Morris on strike, Ravindra Jadeja managed to turn it at pace and the revs were so evident that the South African was left stunned by it. He tried to go forward defensively to counter that delivery, but it spun in the very last moment to which Morris had no answer. However, Dhoni was waiting behind the stumps to weave his magic as he waited for Morris' back foot to lift up for a brief moment and once that happened, Dhoni added another stumping classic to his name.
If that was not enough validation, he decided to add one more moment to his name by simply outdoing himself a couple of deliveries later. On the last ball of the 12th over, Jadeja fired a flatter ball through the air and managed a good deal of turn from a length to ensure that Shreyas Iyer was drawn forward. On the move, Iyer was beaten on the edge and his back foot was in the air slightly when the bails were taken off by the CSK skipper. The third umpire ruled Iyer not out to give MS Dhoni fans another moment to cherish.
