India all-rounder Vijay Shankar’s scans revealed that he had not suffered any form of fracture after he sustained an injury on his forearm during a practice session in England. Shankar will remain under medical supervision and will continue to be in contention to feature in this year’s World Cup.

Vijay Shankar was a shock inclusion in the Indian cricket team’s World Cup squad that left for England a couple of days ago. Critics argued over Shankar’s inclusion as many believed that he did not have enough experience on the big stage to represent India in a major tournament. However, India coach Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli were convinced with Shankar’s abilities to add him to the 15-man squad for the World Cup.

On Friday, Shankar sustained an injury on his forearm which could have possibly ruled him out of the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 which starts on May 30. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the Tamil Nadu-born cricketer will stay with the team after the scans revealed that didn't fractured his forearm.

The SRH all-rounder was hit on his forearm during a net session, which led to speculation that the player might miss out on the tournament. These rumors were put to bed on Saturday as the Indian governing body confirmed that the “BCCI medical team is aiding him in his recovery.” India will play its first World Cup fixture against South Africa on June 5.
