Sarfraz Ahmed has stated that Mohammed Amir is eager to make a comeback and he doesn’t have any more injury woes ahead of Pakistan’s campaign opener against the Windies. Sarfraz has also added that he is happy with Pakistan’s unpredictable tag as that takes the pressure away from the team.

After missing the second ODI against England in Southampton due to a suspected bout of chickenpox, Amir missed the series altogether. But, after Faheem Ashraf’s bad performance in the series, Amir was straight away brought into the World Cup squad and now, Sarfraz reveals that he is fit enough to make his World Cup debut against the Windies.

"Amir is fully fit and available for selection for tomorrow's game," Sarfaraz said in his pre-match press conference, reported ToI.

Pakistan will take on the Windies in the tournament opener in Nottingham and the wicket has undoubtedly been the most flattened one in the world at the moment. Last year, the highest ever domestic List A match aggregate of 870 runs were scored in a match between Northants and Nottinghamshire. Two days after the game, Notts scored another mammoth total of 415 runs and the match aggregate of 794 runs was the ninth highest all-time List A match aggregate. Sarfraz said he is not reading too much into it as the game has changed big-time over the course of the last few years.

"When we came here on the first day and asked the groundsman what is the par score he told us that it's 480. Cricket has changed. People used to think that 300 was a par score but it has changed. We will have different pitches in the World Cup so if a team scores 300-plus then the other team will also go for that," he said.

Pakistan and unpredictability go hand-in-hand in cricket and that was one of the major reasons why they have never been counted off despite repeated failures ahead of any big tournament. The Pakistan skipper believes that that helps them too.

“we have lost 10 matches but we have to forget that and start the World Cup journey. It's good to be unpredictable so all teams are scared of you. Yes, we are unpredictable and we will take that tag, so are the West Indies,” Ahmed said.
