England said I couldn't celebrate a draw, but they did exactly that during the World Cup, says Nathan Lyon

It's never easy for the visiting team during the Ashes especially with the big history behind since it adds more rivalry and the desperation to win. According to Nathan Lyon, coping with the barracking from the opposition crowd, which was huge since it was in England, rising from all the hate and doing well was the one thing Australia had prepared themselves for.

"We went over there knowing everyone was going to hate us, that we were going to have 2,000 Aussies in the crowd and our families, but everyone else hates us and wants to see us lose," Lyon told cricket.com.au.

"To have that adversity and be up against the wall … it meant as a cricket side we had to become tighter and closer and I think we did that, especially during the Ashes. And we were able to come out on top," he added.

Lyon made sure that he and his mates were "celebrating that moment" when Australia retained the urn despite pulling off a draw in the series. England told the 31-year-old that he shouldn't celebrate since it's a 2-2 draw and not a win. But Lyon, who bagged 20 wickets in the five matches, refused to listen to them. 

"Even though it's a 2-2 series and England were telling me I couldn't celebrate a draw, but they did exactly that during the World Cup. I wanted to make sure we were celebrating that moment," said the Aussie spinner.
