The 15-year-old Shefali Verma, who has started off the series with a duck on her debut, rose to the occasion for the India Women's team on Tuesday, smashing a 33-ball 46 while opening. That and the bowlers dominating once again, the hosts secured a comfortable victory over South Africa Women's team.

India women 140 for 4 (Shafali 46, Rodrigues 33) beat South Africa women 89 for 7 (Woolvardt 23, Poonam 3-13, Radha 2-16) by 51 runs

The hosts didn't quite get accustomed to the Indian conditions and the home team made the most out of it. While the batsman looked shaky against the Indian bowling attack, the fielding looked disappointing as well. Meanwhile, the Indian bowling and athleticism remained top-notch in the two T20I fixtures so far. With the help of Shafali Verma's 140 and 19-year-old Jemimah Rodrigues' 33, India put up a total of 140 on the board in the first innings.

Chasing the target set by India, the South African team succumbed to the exceptional spin bowling from Poonam Yadav and Radha Yadav. South Africa managed just 89 for 7 in the end despite starting the chase with some promise. However, they couldn't manage to hit the big runs and hence ended up 51 runs short of the target. India Women, who were leading the series by 1-0 ahead of the fourth fixture, sealed the contest with 2-0 with just one game remaining.

The second and third T20Is were washed out. The fifth and the final T20I will be played on Friday, October 4.
