Ahead of his first stint in the IPL, Ravi Bishnoi has shared that he wants the big wicket of Steve Smith, as the Aussie is the number 1 Test batsman who also plays spin really well. Bishnoi added that he has been analyzing games to figure out the best strategy and wants to deliver on the big stage.

Ravi Bishnoi, last seen in the U-19 World Cup where he took the highest number of wickets, was bought by KXIP for 2 crore for IPL 2020. He will be competing with leggie Murugan Ashwin for a place in the playing eleven along with Karnataka’s left-arm spinner J Suchith. The highlight of Bishnoi’s bowling in the U-19 World Cup was his googlies with which he frequently surprised the batsmen.

Bishnoi revealed that he was advised by coaches in Jodhpur to focus on leg-spin bowling as they were impressed by his casual bowling.

“The coaches in Jodhpur once saw me bowling leg spin casually without run-up; they were impressed and told me, I should try this. I worked hard at it and got better. So, the leg spin is mixed in a medium pacer’s run up,” he said, reported Hindustan Times.

Bishnoi, who picked a four-wicket haul in the U-19 World Cup final that India lost, stated that he has been watch matches to work on his strategies and would use his variations when the need arises. He added that Steve Smith’s wicket would be his favorite one the Aussie is the No. 1 Test batsman who also tends to play spin really well.

“So far, my talks with him have been on reading match situations, because the stage is going up a notch. To try and hit areas that would work better,” I have been working on my leg spinners and varying the pace of my deliveries. I will use the googly when the need arises,” he said.

“I will take whatever comes. But yes, I would like to get Steve Smith out. He is the No1 Test batsmen and he plays spin very well.”

Bishnoi will get a chance to bowl to Steve Smith in game 9 of IPL 2020 on September 27, when his Kings XI Punjab side will take on Rajasthan Royals at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.
