Sourav Ganguly is of the opinion that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be back to their best before the T20 World Cup this year in spite of their poor outing in IPL. Kohli has scored 236 runs from 13 games at just 19.67 while Rohit has amassed 218 runs from 12 matches at just 18.17 in IPL 2022.

India’s two senior batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are going through a lean patch in IPL 2022. Kohli has been going through his worst phase in international cricket as well as IPL and has been unable to score a century for the last couple of years. Rohit has been struggling with the bat in the ongoing season of IPL and Mumbai Indians are at the bottom of the points table without his contribution.

Kohli has scored 236 runs from 13 matches at just 19.67 and a strike rate of 113.46. He has scored a solitary half-century and has also three golden duck dismissals in the tournament so far. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma has managed to score only 218 runs in 12 matches at 18.17 and a strike rate of 125.29.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has backed both players saying they will be in top shape before the T20I World Cup to be played later this year.

“I’m not worried at all about the form of Rohit or Virat. They are too good…real big players. The World Cup is far away and I am quite confident that they will be in top shape much before the tournament," Ganguly said to Mid Day

India will play a lot of T20I fixtures after the conclusion of the IPL 2022. They will play a five-match T20I series against South Africa and will play Ireland after that.
