Reports | Head and Siraj might face disciplinary action after heated exchange in Adelaide
As per a report from the Daily Telegraph, Australian batter Travis Head and Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj might be reprimanded by the International Cricket Council. They were engaged in a heated send-off during the second day’s action of the Adelaide Test match resulting in a fiasco.
Although an official hearing is yet to be made by the ICC, it has been reported that Head and Siraj are likely to be punished for crossing the non-disciplinary limits during the second day’s third session.
Siraj cleaned up the Aussie left-handed batter for 140 after the latter smoked him for a six over deep square leg in the preceding delivery. Subsequently, Siraj broke into an aggressive celebration to which Head replied with his ‘choice of words’. As a result, Siraj was fired up and responded by pointing him towards the the dugout amidst a heated exchange.
In the aftermath, Head expressed that he said “well bowled mate” to which Siraj responded with fire. However, the pacer rubbished the batter’s remarks before the start of the third day’s play where he expressed in an interview with Harbhajan Singh that everyone saw what Head told.
Irrespective of the heat, Siraj walked up to Head who was fielding at short leg on the morning session of the third day to clarify the issue. Subsequently, the Adelaide-based cricketer also got to take Siraj’s catch in the third innings before the two hugged each other after Australia’s ten-wicket victory in the second Test.
The Border Gavaskar Trophy has taken an interesting route with the series leveled 1-1 and both teams as strong contenders for the World Test Championship finals. The third Test at the Gabba, Brisbane begins on December 14.
