BGT | Twitter ecstatic as Bumrah sparks magic with old Kookaburra to castle Head shouldering arms

Cometh the hour, cometh the man -- a saying that has time and again been applied for Travis Head and Jasprit Bumrah in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy, thus setting up an enticing battle on Boxing Day. On this occasion, it was the Indian that took the bragging honours in style to silence the MCG.

Australia got off to the perfect start at MCG in the Boxing Day Test with Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja putting on an 89-run opening stand. Things did not work out any better for India as Khawaja and Labuschagne added another 65 before the former was dismissed. The incoming Steve Smith looked impervious as the duo added a further 83 runs before Labuschagne took the long walk back to the pavilion.

Travis Head, who had already scored two centuries in the series thus far, stepped in and India immediately brought on their best bowler in the hope of stopping Head. This time it did work out well and how. On the third delivery of the 67th over,  Bumrah bowled a back of a length delivery from around the wicket. The ball landed just outside off stump and Head moved his bat out of the way hoping that the ball would go over the stumps. However, the delivery just seamed in by a smidge and got the top of off stump.

While Bumrah just shouldered his arms, Twitter had more to say about the dismissal.

A trendsetter often trails the path to unleash new ways of doing things. Rashid Khan’s snake shot is one such stroke that leaves the spectators in awe, and Josh Philippe happened to replicate a similar one during the Big Bash League encounter between the Sydney Sixers and the Brisbane Heat.

Virat Kohli is as polarising a sportsperson as a sportsperson gets -- half of them hate his guts and call his aggression gimmicks, the other believes that same self-belief made him rule a generation. The MCG crowd at the Boxing Day Test definitely fell in the first bracket on Thursday.
