Aince the win in Perth, India have played some good cricket but have found of a way of shooting themselves in the foot in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. In the ongoing Boxing Day Test, Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal ended their partnership with a horrible run out that left the latter shocked.

Having lost KL Rahul on the last ball before Tea, India found a foothold in the game thanks to Kohli and Jasiwal. The duo combined to see out the early pressure after the break before playing a more attacking brand of cricket. Jaiswal, in particular, looked to be in supreme touch and looked destined to score another big one before ball number six in over number 41.

After dispatching Scott Boland for a boundary behind square on the penultimate delivery of the over, Jaiswal drove the ball down the track to mid-on and immediately ran down the pitch for a single. Kohli, however, turned around and realized that the ball was in Cummin’s hands and decided not to run even though it was Jaiswal running to the danger end. Cummins still decided to have a pop at the stumps at the striker’s end and even though he missed, Carey was at hand to catch the ball and whip the bails off.

Twitter were not happy with the running and vented out, with the blame game basket getting passed around.

It is always necessary to be in the game with utter concentration to avoid giving any opportunity to the opposition. The Melbourne Stars certainly missed out on an opportunity to run out Sam Billings due to lack of appeal as the Sydney Thunder toured at the Manuka Oval, Canberra.
