The modern-day spectators tend to feel more amused with gigantic sixes than anything else in cricket. Having said, that New Zealand batter Glenn Phillips must have given a treat to the spectators at the Bay Oval after smoking a 109-metre maximum against Sri Lanka in the second T20I.

New Zealand got off to a flying start in the first innings, thanks to Mitchell Hay’s mix of orthodox and fancy strokes inside the 48-run powerplay. Despite losing Rachin Ravindra early, a 69 runs second-wicket partnership set up for Glenn Phillip's arrival who amused the crowd with a gigantic six during the middle overs phase.

Having hit just a couple of fours in the ten balls that he faced, Phillips took the charge against Maheesh Theekshana on the third ball of the 13th over. The spinner sprayed the white rock in the slot at the stumps but the right-hander made room and slogged it downtown fine of long on for a six. The magnitude of the stroke was such that the ball hovered all the way to the top of the commentary box and the giant screen read a 109-metre six.

GP goes down the ground!!
