‌IND vs AUS | Twitter reacts to fuming Rohit reprimanding carefree Pant over botched runout chance

In a game of fine margins, one cannot afford to make the silliest mistakes. Although he failed to grasp a difficult catch, Rishabh Pant made a meal out of a runout opportunity that left Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah furious during India’s Super Eight clash against Australia.

The decision to field first during the toss did not go well for Australian captain Mitch Marsh as Rohit Sharma peppered their bowlers in a 60-run powerplay. The Indian captain sent the ball to evey corner of Gros Islet and was backed by the middle order to set up a 206-run target for the opposition. In reply, the Aussies incurred an early blow, in the form of David Warner's wicket, at the start, making way for captain Mitch Marsh, who had a near escape in the second over.

The fourth ball of the third over saw Bumrah come over the wicket and dish a steep bouncer angling into Marsh. The batter was surprised by the sudden bounce off the surface and miscued a pull off the top edge towards the left of the wicketkeeper. As the ball ballooned up, Pant followed it but failed to cover the ground in due time. In the meantime, Marsh left the crease for a run but Pant, unaware of the Aussie's intentions, patted the ball casually towards the wickets without glancing at the batter. Seeing the careless approach from the keeper, where a possible runout chance went begging, Rohit was seen furious and gave Pant a talking to.

The Twitterverse closely followed this incident and here’s how they reacted to it.
