Cricket is a funny game and mega-tournaments like the IPL may put great players on a spot. Such was the case with current Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya who was brutally booed in the Narendra Modi Stadium at the time of toss while taking the field against former team Gujarat Titans.

The homecoming of Hardik to Mumbai Indians was perhaps one of the trending news circulating through social media in the past couple of months. Having won the title for the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 and steering the side to the final in the next edition, Hardik’s move to MI as a captain over Rohit Sharma divided the fans. It got even worse when the all-rounder took the field for their first game of IPL 2024 against his former franchise.

A few minutes before the toss, both captains, Shubman and Hardik strolled towards the center of the field with Ravi Shastri and toss officials. While the spectators appreciated the GT skipper, Hardik met with an unprecedented welcome as the audience booed the 30-year-old. However, this did not curb the toss proceedings as everyone including Hardik meant business and went on with the procedure, thereby winning the toss and sending Gt to bat first.

The Twitterverse was divided on this and ended up into a frenzy.

Only booooooo!
Booooooooo is what everyone is hearing!

Hardik bhai why?

He deserves this?

He is good tho!

Crowd can do anything!

Uffff!

May be!

Sounded like that!

Ahhhaaann??

Hmmm ok leave it!
