The beauty of a big stage as that of the Indian Premier League is the moments of brilliance the audience gets to cherish from the athletes. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Nitish Kumar Reddy almost pulled off a heist to save a six before controversial umpiring took center stage on Wednesday.

LSG got off to a rocky start after batting first, losing two wickets for 27 runs inside the powerplay. Although KL Rahul and Krunal Pandya stabilised the ship, the run-scoring rate was powered by a 99-run stand between Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni with a last-ball controversy triggering debates amidst a Nitish Reddy acrobatic effort.

Cummins bowled a full-toss wide of Pooran on the last ball of the innings. Seeing a freebie, the Caribbean star flayed the blade at it and middled it to help the ball maroon towards deep cover region. Having already grabbed a screamer earlier in the match, Nitish leaped at the edge of the boundary ropes trying to pat the ball inside the ropes to deny a six. Although his effort was incredible, the TV umpire observed that the ball may have bounced inside the field and touched the ropes. However, for once it did seem like the ball landed just on the cushions but the umpire’s decision to signal a four sparked further debates in the Twitterverse.

What a save!
