KL Rahul's leadership has come under intense scrutiny following Lucknow Super Giants' crushing ten-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The spotlight intensified when a viral video surfaced on social media depicting Sanjeev Goenka in an animated the Indian batter after LSG's loss.

‌The woes persist for Lucknow Super Giants as they endured a devastating ten-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad. In pursuit of 166 runs, the Orange Army's openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma displayed a stellar performance achieving the target in a mere 9.4 overs and significantly boosting their net run rate. The magnitude of the loss left KL Rahul speechless, as he expressed in the post-match presentation ceremony, stating, "I'm at a loss for words. We've witnessed that batting display on TV, but it was extraordinary. Every shot found the middle of the bat, credit to their skill; they've put in a lot of hard work on their six-hitting."

Reports indicate that KL Rahul who was acquired for a record-breaking Rs 17 crore before the 2022 auction is unlikely to be retained ahead of the mega auctions in 2025. Nevertheless, there is speculation that the captain might opt to step down voluntarily and focus solely on his batting in the upcoming two games.

As per a PTI report, “There is a five-day gap before the next game against DC. As of now, no decision has been taken but it is understood that if Rahul plans to just concentrate on his batting for the remaining two games, the management won't mind”
