BGT | Twitter awed as Bumrah strikes fear into Aussie hearts by dispatching Khawaja and Smith in two balls

Few men have managed to loom as large on Australian souls as Jasprit Bumrah has in recent times. The Indian quick, named skipper in Perth, was on a mission to further that image of his on Friday as he dismantled the Australian top order with three scalps in his opening spell with the red cherry.

‌India tumbled out for 150 on Day 1 of the opening Border Gavaskar Trophy Test in Perth, which meant Australia had to walk out to bat on a fresh green deck with the entire third session to play. In front of them was Jasprit Bumrah, captain for the game in Rohit Sharma's absence, and boasting an incredible record Down Under with a shiny red Kookaburra in hand. Openers Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney did their best to survive the first over, but it took Bumrah just three in the next one to trap the debutant plumb in front. However, the premier Indian quick's best was yet to come and when it arrived in the seventh over, the Perth Stadium was left stunned into silence.

Bumrah changed angles to go around the wicket against Khawaja after failing to find success from the other side of the stumps. He pitched the first ball on length, angling into the batter, that jagged away sharply to square up Khawaja attempting a forward defence. The next two balls pitched on similar spots but travelled straight before the fourth one moved off the deck just enough to take the outside edge and carry into Virat Kohli's hands at second slip. Steve Smith walked in next, prompting Bumrah to return to over the wicket, and his very first ball swung incredulously with the angle to bamboozle the shuffling batter across the crease before the red cherry thumped into the pad. It was as plumb as it gets, and the veteran walked away without even bother for a review.

Bumrah, meanwhile, had his arms spread out with a look on hi face that screamed he felt inevitable, much to Twitterati's delight.
