BGT | Twitter fired up as Kohli and Siraj gang up against Marnus' provocative field obstruction tactic

A rebrand that began with Sourav Ganguly has taken its final form over the last decade with India growing into a blood thirsty unit away from home. Friday in Perth was no different as the approach's two finest connoisseurs Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj let Marnus Labuschagne know who's in charge.

India fought back with aplomb in the final session of Day 1 at the Perth Stadium to reduce Australia to 31/4 in the opening Border Gavaskar Trophy Test after themselves tumbling out for 150. Unsurprisingly, captain Jasprit Bumrah proved to be the wrecker-in-chief with three scalps in his opening spell while Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana also delivered fiery spells at the other end to keep the hosts under check. The former eventually not only dispatched Mitchell Marsh but also did enough to inject intensity into the encounter and ensure Australia remained on their toes.

Siraj's aggression culminated in a charged-up confrontation with Marnus Labuschagne in his fourth over but it was the batter's own doing. Siraj pitched the delivery on a length that sprung up on the number three with the angle and struck him on the thigh. In the process, Marnus had strutted out from his crease and was left unaware of the ball's location while it lay just behind him along the crease. Siraj sprinted after the red cherry, hoping to inflict a runout, but his counterpart regained his senses just in time to return to safety. However, just when Siraj was about to kick the red cherry onto the stumps, Marnus cheekily rolled the ball away with his bat and unsurprisingly drew Siraj's chagrin. The quick immediately went up for an obstructing the field appeal while Virat Kohli came running from the slip cordon to take the ball and dislodge the bails in protest.

While the umpires remained unmoved, Siraj gave Marnus a piece of his mind along with a death stare and let Twitterati do the rest of the talking.
