That Virat Kohli has been an exquisite stroke maker in international cricket for the past decade and a half needs no validation. The Bengaluru crowd got to witness the magic yet again on Thursday as Kohli sent a widish delivery from Royals skipper Riyan Parag for a straight six.

‌Royal Challengers Bengaluru, searching for their first win at home in IPL 2025, were put in to bat first after losing out on the toss yet again. Kohli, as always at Bengaluru, was in the thick of action as he completed his 60th fifty in IPL with RCB sitting pretty at 128/1 in the 14th over when the magic unfurled.

With Padikkal already clearing the fence off the first ball of Parag’s over, the visiting skipper was trying to escape without conceding another maximum. As he bowled a fullish ball wide of off-stump, Kohli pulled out his broom and stretching himself to the last sinew slogged it over the bowler’s head.

What looked like a mishit was proven wrong by Kohli’s million dollar smile after the shot. And the star-batter was seen explaining animatedly to Dhruv Jurel on how he pulled the trick. Twitteratti could not take their eyes off the shot and Kohli’s reaction to it.
