England has now announced its squad for the T20 World Cup 2026. The one-time T20 World Cup champions are now ready to give their best in the next edition. But this time, their team is having some surprises, which await for the fans in the tournament.

The T20 World Cup is looming closer with each passing day. And just like every other team, England has also announced its line-up for the tournament. The team finished in the semi-final stages of the previous season, and now they are eager to get their second title win.

Jos Buttler had stepped down as England's captain in the white ball format earlier this year. So, the team had to go through a challenge of appointing a new captain for the T20 World Cup. They have been able to name a new skipper with ease, as Harry Brook makes his way to the team as a captain.

1. England's Squad for T20 World Cup 2026

England had a tough time in the Test series against Australia. But while the majority of the fans were thinking of their Test performances, the board decided to announce its team for the T20 World Cup. It can be said that they have named some of the best players the team could possibly have on their side for the tournament.

From their batting line-up to bowling, the team has named great stars to the same. It starts with Phil Salt, who has been the finest T20 batsman for the team over the last few years. Moreover, Salt has been able to do well even in the Indian conditions, which will help England to do well. The same will also go for Jos Buttler.

Buttler is not the captain, but he will be playing as a player in the next edition. It is also confirmed that England will be using the same team for the T20I series against Sri Lanka. Since India and Sri Lanka are known for their spin bowling conditions, the team has also named Adil Rashid and Rehan Ahmed to the line-up.

Even in the all-rounder side, the team has some great players. This includes Will Jacks and Sam Curran, with the team having both spin and pace bowling options in extra. Moreover, Jacks and Curran are also known for their aggressive batting style, giving England some strong knocks in the middle overs.

In the bowling line-up, the team has named stars such as Jofra Archer, Josh Tongue, Luke Wood, and Jamie Overton. Fans are a bit surprised with the team not having the name of Jamie Smith to the same. Smith was expected to be a part of the team, considering his performances lately across formats.

2. England's Fixtures

England belongs to the Group C of the T20 World Cup 2026. The group stage games look easy for the English team, which would make it much easier for them to make it to the Super Eight stages of the tournament. Being the semi-finalists of the previous season, they will be eager to give their best this time.

England's Fixtures in T20 World Cup 2026:

  • England vs Nepal: 8 February, 3:00 PM IST
  • England vs West Indies: 11 February, 7:00 PM IST
  • England vs Bangladesh: 14 February, 3:00 PM IST
  • England vs Italy: 16 February, 3:00 PM IST

This time England is totally in a different group as compared to their group in the previous edition. In the group stages, fans won't be able to see England against any strong team such as India, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa. But these teams could clash against each other in the Super Eight stages of the tournament.

3. England in T20 World Cup 2024

England belonged to Group B in the T20 World Cup 2024. They were able to win two of the four games in the group stages, and won two games which helped them to finish 2nd in the table. Later, they made it to the Super Eight stages of the tournament, where they finished 2nd in their group too, with 2 wins in 3 matches.

Eventually, their semi-final clash came against India, who later went on to win the tournament. Jos Buttler (214) and Phil Salt (188) remained the top run scorers for England in the tournament. Adil Rashid and Jofra Archer finished as the leading wicket-takers for England, with 10 wickets each.
