With so much cricket happening all around the world, some of the on-field incidents reflect a deja vu moment. Pakistan premium pacer Shaheen Afridi happened to enforce a similar act after scalping the wicket of Indian captain Rohit Sharma in Dubai, mirroring a similar delivery he bowled in 2021.

After choosing to bat first under humid conditions, Pakistan piled up 241 runs on the back of a 104-run third-wicket stand between Saud Shakeel and the skipper Mohammad Rizwan. In response, the Men in Blue got off to a blistering start, as the scene has been in the recent ICC tournaments, with Rohit Sharma reaching 20 on just 14 balls. Halfway through the powerplay, he already smoked three fours and a six before falling to Shaheen on a similar delivery as that of in the 2021 T20 World Cup.

After a mistimed lofted stroke for a four on the second-last ball of the fifth over, Rohit was stunned by a yorker from over the wicket by Shaheen. The Mumbaikar was late to jam the bat down as the white cherry beat his inside edge and thwarted into the stumps. The Indian captain wasn’t expecting the particular length from the left-arm pacer and had to trudge off the field in disappointment. The broadcast cameras were quick to focus on Rohit’s Mumbai Indians teammate Tilak Varma, and his wife Ritika Sajdeh, who seemed shellshocked by the dismissal. No doubt for guess that the feeling across the Indian fans in the Twitterverse was similar too.
