When a team needs to score quick runs, the top-order batters are often expected to lead the charge with an aggressive approach. Yashasvi Jaiswal took on that role in the final session of day two, displaying his attacking style of batting and smashed Mitchell Starc for three consecutive fours.

‌Australia lost Marnus Labuschagne early on day two with Bumrah taking his wicket. Sam Konstas' innings ended at 23 as Siraj had him caught by Jaiswal and Travis Head soon followed. A brief partnership between Steven Smith and debutant Beau Webster was broken when Prasidh dismissed Smith before lunch, and soon after, Bumrah's injury added to India's concerns. Despite resistance from Pat Cummins and Webster, India’s bowlers, led by Prasidh and Reddy, cleaned up the tail to bowl Australia out for 181, securing a small lead for India. In response, India began their innings aggressively with Yashasvi Jaiswal hitting three successive fours off the first over by Mitchell Starc.

On the second delivery of the first over, Mitchell Starc bowled a short, wide delivery outside off and Yashasvi Jaiswal on the back foot cut it over backward point for a stylish four. The next delivery was similar, short and wide outside off, but Jaiswal judged the line perfectly and cut it over deep point for another boundary. Frustration grew for Starc as he prepared to bowl the next ball, a length delivery wide outside off which Jaiswal cut behind square on the offside beating the deep point to his right for another four. Jaiswal was in fine form and finished the over in style, bending his back knee to drive the ball handsomely through the covers for a cracking boundary. The Mumbai star’s brilliant attacking intent lit up the final session and the Twitterverse was abuzz, praising Jaiswal’s flair and aggression.
