Even the cricket laws change over time but when it comes to taking DRS calls, MS Dhoni’s strategic calls seldom fail. The doubleheaders of the 2025 Indian Premier League kicked off in a similar manner as the former Indian captain’s nod helped Nathan Ellis earn a hard-earned wicket.
The crucial toss of the eyeball-grabbing encounter between Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings was won by the latter and Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to field first. This is when captain Ruturaj Gaiwkad and Ellis asked for Dhoni’s suggestion who smirked and asked to go upstairs. Without a surprise, the ball which could’ve cleared missed the stumps due to height on a pace-friendly track, went on to hit the stumps after two reds on ball tracking. As a result, Ellis earned his first scalp of the season in ‘Yellow’, leaving the Twitterverse in guffaws.
