Fast bowlers going through the defences of batters always produces a rush of adrenaline, and Prasidh Krishna’s pacy in-swinger against Punjab in the Ranji Trophy was no different. The Karnataka pacer castled Emanjot Singh Chahal with a beauty as the stumps went for a cartwheel in Mohali.

‌Karnataka kept themselves in the hunt for a place in the knockouts of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 campaign, with the side needing to score 250 runs from a maximum of 40 overs on the final day against Punjab in Mohali. With Madhya Pradesh and Saurashtra moving ahead of them in the Elite Group B points table, the side had to win the contest to ensure their progress in the tournament.

However, the former champions could not have even dreamt of chasing down a total after the hosts were sitting pretty at 119/3, a lead of 112 runs, at the end of the penultimate day’s action at the I S Bindra PCA Stadium. But Shreyas Gopal and Prasidh Krishna combined admirably on the last day, picking six wickets between them, to bowl out the hosts for 256 runs.

With the leg-spinner reining in the middle order, Prasidh ran through the tail to give the Karnataka batter some time tochase down the target. And the pacer was in his elements as he went through Emanjot Singh Chahal’s defence for his first scalp.

He sent in a thunderbolt that pitched outside off stump on a length before swinging viciously into the first-innings’ top scorer. The batter clearly looked out of sorts as he reacted late as the red cherry whizzed through his bat and pads. The enormous pace of the delivery meant the off and middle stumps were uprooted before completing a stunning cartwheel.

The pacer was chuffed as he celebrated with a pumped fist to end his run-up as the teammates rushed in to celebrate. He banished the side’s worries of Punjab’s tail putting on a resistance, picking up two more wickets to add to his special one.

That was special!
