Brian Bennett channelled the inner bird within him during the T20 World Cup 2026 Group B game against Oman in Colombo on Monday. The Zimbabwe opener sprinted to his right before going fully airborne to pouch a blinder near the boundary to dismiss Nadeem Khan in an extraordinary effort.

‌Blessing Muzarabani ran through the Oman batting lineup after Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza opted to bowl against Oman in their Group B T20 World Cup encounter in Colombo. The pacer picked up three wickets in his first spell, including one off his first ball to dismiss captain Jatinder Singh, to reduce Oman to 17/4 in four overs.

The batting side never recovered from that as they slipped further to 27/5 but some valuable contributions down the order helped them past the 100-run mark in the last over. But Brian Bennett came up with a stupendous effort on the field to signal the end of the innings with a ball to spare and the score reading 103.

With medium pacer Brad Evans going for the back of the hand slower delivery, Nadeem Khan could not help but swing for the moon. The batter could not make proper connection as the ball flew towards the big gap between long on and mid wicket.

It looked like a couple of runs for the batter but Bennett had other ideas as he started sprinting towards the ball from deep mid wicket. He covered almost 20 metres and just as it looked like the ball would elude him, the opener went fully airborne and put in a desperate dive with extended arms.

And the ball nicely fit into his hands as he made contact with the ground, landing smoothly with the ball intact. He looked in some discomfort after superlative effort but the smile on his face described how chuffed he was with the effort.

The fielder at long on rushed in to congratulate Bennett and patted on his back while wicketkeeper Brendan Taylor raised his hands to salute the effort. Twitter was stunned as Bennett put in a serious contender for the catch of the tournament.
